The Army spokesperson revealed that Thailand responded strongly according to plan. Cambodia is targeting areas within 30 km, including Buriram Airport and Prasat Hospital. One Thai soldier has died and 7-8 others were injured.
Today, 8 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at 10:30, Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army spokesperson, reported on the Thailand-Cambodia border situation, stating that Thailand has used weapons in accordance with a localized incident response plan. Thailand must apply the principle of self-defense against targets threatening Thai forces. Intelligence indicates Cambodian troops are preparing personnel, equipment, and support weapons, with indications of Cambodia designating long-range coordinates extending into inner areas, covering zones near Buriram Airport and areas close to a hospital in Prasat district, about 30 km from the border line.
In the early morning, there were intensified exchanges of fire in several areas. Cambodia used small arms and artillery, causing casualties among personnel. Evidence shows Cambodia engaged in multiple locations including Chong Bok, Chong An Ma, Hill 677, Huai Tamaria, and Prasat Ta Muen. Thailand responded according to the military-focused incident response plan. The Air Force had to defend itself as Cambodia continued to use weapons against Thailand, including air support weapons. Emphasis remains on targeting only Cambodian military objectives to limit the scale and scope of damage.
Initially, it is confirmed that one soldier has died, with another unconfirmed, and 7-8 soldiers injured. The military must urgently counteract support weapon fire because in previous clashes, such weapons were fired at Thai civilians, causing numerous injuries and deaths. There is a strong focus on destroying Cambodia’s support weapon systems. Thailand’s proactive operations must aim to neutralize as many as possible, responding within appropriate international frameworks.
