Prime Minister Anutin Leads Cabinet in Multi-Religious Ceremony Honoring the 50-Day Memorial of Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother

The government held a religious ceremony involving five faiths to offer royal merit to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on the occasion of the 50-day merit-making memorial ceremony (Panyasomwar). The event honored the late Queen Mother’s royal deeds.

At 07:30 today, 12 December 2025 GMT+7, at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the merit-making and almsgiving ceremony in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother on the 50-day merit-making memorial (Panyasomwar). He was accompanied by his wife, Miss Thananon Niramith. Cabinet members and their spouses, heads of departments under the Prime Minister’s Office, senior officials in Government House, executives, civil servants, and related staff dressed in white mourning uniforms also attended.

Upon arrival at the Santi Maitri Building (outer section), 10 Buddhist monks took their seats. The Prime Minister lit candles in homage to the Triple Gem and incense before the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother. The monks then gave blessings and chanted Buddhist scriptures.

The Prime Minister and his wife, along with Cabinet members, presented offerings and robes to the Most Venerable Supreme Patriarch of Wat Traimit Wittayaram, the presiding monk, and the group of 10 monks. The monks expressed their approval. The Prime Minister poured water in merit, paid respects to the Triple Gem, and honored the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.

At 08:00, the Prime Minister and his wife, Cabinet members, department heads under the Prime Minister’s Office, senior officials in Government House, executives, civil servants, and staff joined in offering alms to the monks in front of the Santi Maitri Building.

After the almsgiving, the Prime Minister and his wife, along with participants, returned to the inner section of the Santi Maitri Building. The Prime Minister lit incense and candles before the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and delivered a heartfelt remembrance of her royal benevolence.

“I, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister, together with the Cabinet, spouses, civil servants, and all Thai people, solemnly unite our hearts to express loyalty and profound gratitude for the immeasurable royal benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, the Mother of the Nation. She devotedly performed numerous royal duties for the development of the country, bringing peace and happiness to the people. Her glorious reputation is widely acclaimed by Thai people and the international community alike. All citizens remember her boundless kindness with deep appreciation that will never be forgotten.”

On 12 December 2025 GMT+7 marks the 50-day Panyasomwar memorial since Her Majesty’s passing. The government therefore organized the merit-making ceremony and religious rites involving five faiths to dedicate royal merit to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother.

At this moment, all gathered here and at various locations are requested to stand in solemn silence to honor and reflect on the immeasurable royal benevolence of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother and to uphold her in highest reverence forever.”



The Prime Minister and participants stood in silent tribute. Religious leaders then conducted ceremonies in sequence: the Prime Minister lit candles in homage to the Triple Gem; monks gave blessings; the presiding monk recited words recalling the royal benevolence; monks chanted the Matika. The Prime Minister offered robes to 10 monks, who listened attentively and expressed their approval. The Prime Minister poured water in merit. Islamic leaders offered condolences; Christian leaders led prayers; Brahmin priests chanted; Sikh religious leaders chanted Kirtan and Ardas.

After the religious ceremonies, the Prime Minister presented commemorative gifts to the presiding monk and to leaders of the five faiths. He then paid respects to the Triple Gem and honored the royal portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, concluding the ceremony.
