Anutin is unconcerned about the border situation, emphasizing that election authority rests with the Election Commission. He continues courting Ekkaniti Suppachai as the prime minister candidate and confidently states that Warawut will definitely join on 15 December, along with former MPs from several parties.
On 12 December 2025 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, addressed concerns that the border situation might delay the election process. He stated that setting the election date is the authority of the Election Commission, not the government, and expressed no worry about delays, as the caretaker government is currently focused on campaign preparations and policy planning.
Anutin spoke about progress in inviting Ekkaniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and Supachai Suthammanphun, Minister of Commerce, to be prime minister candidates for the Bhumjaithai Party. He said discussions are ongoing and acknowledged that both are not career politicians, so more time is needed for consideration.
"I will have to persuade them to accept the invitation. Ekkaniti has concerns about it being a trial run, but I have told him not to worry about such matters, because anything appropriate can happen," the prime minister said. He added that if he were confident, there would be no need for extensive discussion, but they have prepared backup candidates as well.
When asked about rumors that Warawut Silpa-archa, former leader of the Chart Thai Pattana Party, would bring 10 former MPs to join Bhumjaithai on 15 December, Anutin briefly confirmed, "Yes, they are coming." He also mentioned ongoing talks with MPs from several other parties, including the Pheu Thai Party, to join Bhumjaithai. The party is ready to consider anyone who can serve the people effectively.
