On 12 Dec 2025, the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia remains intense with fierce fighting between Thai and Cambodian soldiers. Cambodian forces initiated an attack on 7 Dec 2025 at the Phu Pha Lek - Phlan Hin Paed Kon area in Kantharalak District, Si Sa Ket Province, escalating the situation and causing multiple clashes across several locations, resulting in Thai soldiers being wounded and killed.
Most recently, the official Facebook pageof the Ministry of Defense spokespersonposted an update at 16:17 today, briefly stating “Chong An Ma 100%” followed by a Thai flag emoji. Many Facebook users commented and sent support to the Thai soldiers.
Meanwhile, at the joint Thai-Cambodian border situation press center, Channel 5 News, Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri, the Ministry of Defense spokesperson, said, “At 06:29, Cambodian forces launched an attack against Thai troops, forcing us to respond to the aggression. Fighting continues along the border across seven provinces. At 12:00, Cambodia launched heavy weapon fire into the Chong An Ma area, resulting in the death of one Thai soldier from the 1st Special Forces Regiment. The army responded and was able to fully secure Hill 677 at Chong An Ma. Although we suffered a fatality, that soldier is honored as a national hero who sacrificed for the country. We extend our condolences to his family.”
However, the situation there is not yet resolved. Cambodia continues to bring in heavy weapons fire support. Our forces maintain counter-fire to secure the area, as we do not yet trust that Cambodia has disarmed. The clashes continue. .
