Warawut Mourns Sergeant Om, a Young Man from Suphanburi Who Sacrificed His Life Defending the Country, Condemns Cambodias Invasion of Thailand

Warawut condemns Cambodia's invasion of Thailand and pays tribute to Sergeant Om – Corporal Jirawat Mungkang – who sacrificed his life protecting Thai soil. The Banharn-Jamsai Silpa-acha Foundation will help support the family’s welfare in recognition of this selfless warrior’s dedication.

12 Dec 2025 GMT+7 Warawut Silpa-acha, former Minister of Social Development and Human Security and former leader of the Chart Thai Pattana Party, gave an interview at Wat Wang Nam Yen, Wang Nam Yen Subdistrict, Bang Pla Ma District, Suphanburi Province, saying he stands before everyone with a heavy heart but full of determination. Thailand has lost one of its brave defenders, one of our own children, following an unacceptable provocation and attack by Cambodian forces against Thai soldiers defending national sovereignty.

Warawut further stated that the fallen soldier was not just a uniformed protector of Thailand but a young man from Suphanburi, his shared hometown, Corporal Jirawat Mungkang, also known as Sergeant Om, a man with dreams, preparing to start a new family and bearing the responsibility of caring for his loved ones with strength. His life was taken, and his future was stolen from his family, the people of Suphanburi, and all of Thailand, leaving us to grieve this senseless act.

We strongly condemn Cambodia's violent invasion, an act that not only violates international norms but also disregards humanitarian principles and good neighborliness. Thailand will not tolerate oppression or let the blood of its people be shed without response. To our soldiers stationed along the border, we stand with your courage, discipline, and unwavering resolve to defend the Kingdom of Thailand. Your bravery is the profound inspiration and respect of all Thai citizens. Soldiers are the guardians of our nation's sovereignty, and today we pay tribute to the service of all military branches.

“I offer my deepest condolences to the family of this fallen hero. Know that Sergeant Om symbolizes strength and sacrifice and will remain in our memory forever. His duty will not be forgotten and serves as a constant reminder that Thailand’s sovereignty is sacred. As long as any threat remains, no matter how small, we will unite, remain steadfast, and firmly uphold Thailand’s sovereignty.”

A reporter added that during the funeral service for Corporal Jirawat today, Warawut, as vice chairman of the Banharn-Jamsai Silpa-acha Foundation, revealed he was entrusted by Kanchana Silpa-acha, foundation chairperson, to coordinate repairs to the Mungkang family’s residence. This aims to improve their living conditions in gratitude for the sacrifices of a fighter who dedicated his life to protecting the country and all Thai people, honoring the nation's guardians in line with the late Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-acha’s vision of ensuring no Thai is left behind.
