Wacharapol Urges Prime Minister Anutin to Quickly Implement Relief Measures for Ubon War Refugees, Criticizes Neglect of 65,000 People in Evacuation Center

Pheu Thai youth demand that Anutin urgently implement relief measures for Ubon residents fleeing the war, criticizing the abandonment of 65,000 evacuees in shelters left starving and thirsty due to insufficient funds.

On 13 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Wacharapol Chueakhong, prospective MP candidate for Constituency 10 covering Nam Yuen, Nam Khun, Sri Udom, and Samrong districts in Ubon Ratchathani Province from the Pheu Thai Party, stated that after Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced the dissolution of parliament to avoid a no-confidence debate filed by Pheu Thai, as per the constitution, Anutin and his cabinet have chosen to evade political scrutiny.

Mr. Wacharapol said that while Anutin may evade political scrutiny, he cannot escape responsibility for the lives of the people. The war has forced hundreds of thousands of Ubon residents and those in border provinces, living in evacuation centers and relatives’ homes across various areas, to flee combat zones and seek safety elsewhere.

Mr. Wacharapol added that the Chong An Ma area in Ubon Ratchathani is a major battleground between Thai and Cambodian armies, causing residents in Nam Khun, Nam Yuen, and Na Chaluai districts to flee for their lives and take refuge in prepared evacuation centers. There are over 65,568 evacuees, many of whom lack food and drinking water because state-provided supplies are insufficient. Water is also scarce. He questioned how the government will take responsibility, accusing the Interior Ministry of abandoning these people or possibly someone exploiting the food budget for evacuees, resulting in inadequate state care.

“This round of fighting between Thailand and Cambodia is more intense than before. Anutin chooses to blame others, having previously tried to spin the conflict as a feud between two families. Now, the fighting is fiercer with brave soldiers dying along the border and civilians killed. Who else will Anutin blame? He cannot evade responsibility. Even as a caretaker government, he has full authority to govern and care for the people. Moreover, how will the government provide compensation for the losses? Will locals receive state aid? They cannot work, their homes are damaged—where will they get money to repair? Anutin should set aside politics and prioritize the people more.”
