Julpan Emphasizes Pheu Thai Ready for 2026 Election, to Unveil 3 Prime Minister Candidates and Policies on 16 Dec

Julpan emphasized that the Pheu Thai Party is fully prepared for the 2026 election, confidently fielding candidates in all 400 constituencies. The party is set to unveil three prime minister candidates and its policies on 16 December 2025. Meanwhile, Promphong warned Anutin not to exploit any loopholes to prolong his stay after the House dissolution.

13 December 2025 GMT+7 Julpan Amornwiwat, leader of the Pheu Thai Party, commented on the party’s readiness for the election following Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s announcement to dissolve the House of Representatives. He stated that Pheu Thai has been ready for some time and confirms they will nominate candidates in all 400 constituencies. Currently, over 300 candidates have been selected and are actively campaigning in their areas. The party will expedite the selection process for the remaining constituencies.

Julpan further noted, that on 16 December 2025, Pheu Thai will officially present its three prime minister candidates and launch its first batch of election policies. When asked about competitors currently in government power, Julpan said, "We have witnessed the use of state power in elections many times. Pheu Thai has always been in opposition, so we are not worried about this. We still have confidence that the people will support us."

On another note, Promphong Noprit, former spokesperson of the Pheu Thai Party, revealed that with Anutin having dissolved the House, many are marking election dates as 1 or 8 February 2026. However, some cite Article 104 of the constitution concerning unrest from the Thai-Cambodian conflict, suggesting that if simultaneous nationwide voting cannot occur on the same day, the election schedule may not follow the usual timeframe. This raises the question: will Anutin continue as acting prime minister indefinitely? He questioned Anutin, who promised to dissolve the House within four months, whether the dissolution is truly to hold elections or to extend his tenure. When questioned, Anutin referred responsibility to the Election Commission (EC). This signals something suspicious. He urged Anutin to comply with the law and proceed with elections within 45-60 days from the dissolution date, warning against exploiting any special loopholes to delay the election. Otherwise, the public will unite to punish those who take advantage of the situation. .
