Sutin expresses concern over the border situation, stating that Thailand must not retreat but continue to protect its sovereignty and deter the enemy. He urges Prime Minister Anutin to quickly negotiate to assist Thai nationals in Cambodia, fearing they may become hostages.
At 11:00 a.m. on 13 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Sutin Klangsaeng, former Minister of Defence and former party-list MP for the Pheu Thai Party, presided over the opening of Klangsaeng Law Office, located at 67/26 Moo 8, Oofoo Market, Mittraphap Road, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The office was established by Mr. Kamphonsak Klangsaeng, chairman of Klangsaeng Law Office Company, and was attended by a team of legal experts and politicians from both national and local levels who came to congratulate.
Afterwards, Mr. Sutin gave an interview regarding the Thailand-Cambodia border situation. He said that, as a former Minister of Defence who had worked closely with military commanders and units, he is concerned about such incidents that should not have happened and should not occur in any country. There are many better ways to resolve human conflicts than using force. Unfortunately, previous efforts were incomplete in some stages, leading to the current escalation.
"At this point, Thailand cannot retreat. We must fully advance to protect our sovereignty and make the enemy learn a lesson. Modern warfare involves fighting with force, diplomacy, and social psychology. The military and government must consider these aspects carefully. We may need to win on all fronts simultaneously. Personally, I encourage our military and government to aim for a peaceful resolution without Thailand being disadvantaged."
Mr. Sutin also revealed that Thailand has been careless in negotiations on many points, leaving loopholes that allowed breaches of agreements. Such breaches immediately caused disputes and unsuccessful talks. Negotiations between the two governments must be thorough and seal all gaps; otherwise, similar problems will recur.
"Acting Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's government has accomplished nearly everything within the legal framework. But regarding ongoing international disputes and conflicts, the caretaker government must prioritize security and not treat these issues as political advantages. In situations like this, ill-intentioned people might exploit the issues politically, so we must help remind the government to stay aware."
At the end, Mr. Sutin added that if the government anticipates potential conflict, it must urgently manage these issues. The government and military should coordinate to evacuate their citizens beforehand. However, Cambodia is currently not allowing nearly 7,000 Thais to leave the country, which harms Thailand and places it at a military disadvantage. If these Thai civilians become hostages, Thailand clearly suffers a disadvantage.
