Prime Minister Tearfully Presides Over Royal Cremation of Fallen Soldier Sgt. Satthawat, Offers Support to Family

Prime Minister Anutin, with tears in his eyes, presided over the royal cremation ceremony for Sgt. Satthawat Sujarit, a brave soldier who sacrificed his life in the Thailand-Cambodia battlefield, offering support to the family and embracing Sgt. Satthawat’s two daughters.

13 Dec 2025 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, arrived at Roi Et Airport and at 15:10 presided over the royal cremation ceremony for Sergeant Satthawat Sujarit, known as Sgt. Piew, a brave soldier who died in the clash between Thailand and Cambodia. The ceremony took place at Wat Phromphithak Wanaram, Village No. 9, Rob Mueang Subdistrict, Nong Phok District, Roi Et Province, with Deputy Minister of Interior Sakda Wichiensilp and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Chaipruk Duangprapat attending.

The Prime Minister expressed his condolences and offered encouragement to Sgt. Satthawat’s family. He spoke with the soldier’s two daughters, advising them to focus on their studies. He then witnessed the presentation of the national flag draped over Sgt. Satthawat’s coffin and handed over a certificate of honor and financial aid from the army. The Prime Minister was tearful during his conversation with the family and said the aid money should be kept to care for the two daughters, before embracing them both.

Reporters added that before returning to his vehicle, many attendees approached the Prime Minister for photos. He greeted them warmly while the crowd urged him to resolve the Thailand-Cambodia border issues during his tenure. The Prime Minister responded by raising a fist in a gesture of determination, then pointed to Gen. Chaipruk, saying, "This is the commander-in-chief."
