Warawut and Prapat Pay Respects to Banharn Before Joining Bhumjaithai Party, Assure They Are Not Abandoning Suphanburi

Warawut, along with five former Suphanburi MPs, paid respects at the Banharn monument before registering with the Bhumjaithai Party on 15 December. "Top" apologized and affirmed he was not abandoning the people of Suphanburi; joining Bhumjaithai would allow greater support for the locals. Prapat sought forgiveness and announced a temporary leave.

On 14 Dec 2025, Warawut Silpa-archa, former party-list MP and leader of the Chartthaipattana Party (CTP), along with all former Suphanburi MPs of CTP—Sorachart Sujit, Nattawut Prasertsuwan, Noppadol Matsee, Samekan Tiangtham, and Prapat Poonsuthon—and former party leader Thanetphon Thanabunyawat, collectively visited the monument of Banharn Silpa-archa, Thailand's 21st prime minister. They brought flower wreaths to mark an auspicious start before the upcoming election after submitting their resignations from CTP to join the Bhumjaithai Party on Monday, 15 December at noon. Udom Prongfa, Suphanburi's Provincial Administrative Organization chief, and Attapol Suwansorn, chairman of the Suphanburi Provincial Administrative Organization council, longtime CTP collaborators, also joined the event.

Prapat led the former MPs in addressing Banharn's statue, saying, "As a representative of Suphanburi and a lifelong partner of Banharn for 50 years, all members of CTP deeply respect and love him. Today, as his descendants, we come to ask forgiveness for any mistakes or offenses committed against him and seek his pardon. We hereby announce a temporary suspension of CTP activities to serve as government representatives and assist the people of Suphanburi. Therefore, we must pause CTP membership to join the Bhumjaithai Party with the sincere intention to help our Suphanburi community. We have always said that as representatives, we want to be part of the ruling party. We thus unanimously decided to pause our CTP membership temporarily and will return to develop Suphanburi and advance CTP according to Banharn's vision."

Warawut said in an interview that as a small party, their work has become increasingly challenging to gain votes in each election over the past nine years. With only 10 MPs after the last election, their capacity was very limited. The areas they could serve and the number of ministers under their influence imposed significant constraints. Therefore, they decided to seek new opportunities, train themselves in the political arena, and strengthen their ability to serve Suphanburi and all Thais more effectively. He cited Banharn's example, who at 18 left Suphanburi to overcome challenges in Bangkok; had Banharn not left Suphanburi then, there would be no Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa today. This is what they are doing now—building strength and capability to serve the public more effectively. Their home remains Suphanburi, wherever they are, and this is their pledge to follow Banharn's footsteps to develop their home province.

Warawut added that their request today is to seek permission to pursue a different path, continuing Banharn's dream of uniting Suphanburi as one, fostering harmony, and improving the quality of life for its people. Importantly, they aim to serve all 64 million Thais more effectively.

"I sincerely apologize for taking this new path under Bhumjaithai's leadership. Our core priority is Suphanburi's forward progress and effective development. Since Banharn's passing, we have had 10 MPs but faced significant limitations in our work. Now, we want to serve Suphanburi and Thailand more efficiently. Collaborating with Bhumjaithai will enhance our capacity to care for Suphanburi residents more effectively; we have not abandoned the people of Suphanburi," Warawut said.
