The government condemns Cambodia for deliberately firing BM-21 rockets into civilian areas, causing civilian deaths, and insists this was not an accident.
At 11:50 a.m. on 14 Dec 2025, Mr. Siripong Angkasakornkiat, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, received reports from the village head of Village 4, Saothongchai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, that BM-21 rockets were fired into Ban Nong Mek, Village 4, Saothongchai Subdistrict. One person died, believed to have been hit by shrapnel near Nong Mek School.
At the same time, a fire broke out caused by a BM-21 rocket that destroyed one house completely. Several other homes were damaged by shrapnel, but no injuries occurred as residents had evacuated. Fire trucks have been dispatched to the scene.
“The government condemns the cruel and inhumane actions of Cambodia for firing BM-21 rockets into Thai civilian areas, causing deaths and damage to homes and property, instilling fear for the safety of the people. We confirm that the civilians and communities affected have no military involvement, and such attacks on civilian areas are unacceptable under international norms. This was deliberate, not an accident as Cambodia often claims.” Mr. Siripong added.
