Army Chief Commands Continued Operations to Eliminate Threats and Secure Border Areas

The Army Chief orders military units along the Thai-Cambodian border to proceed with operations according to the designated plan, with the primary goal of eliminating threats and securing the area.

On 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army spokesperson, addressed public concerns and questions about a ceasefire, stating that the Army has never mentioned or considered such a course of action. Currently, Cambodia continues to attack Thai forces along the border using heavy weapons including BM-21 rockets, grenade launchers, and suicide drones. These actions pose a serious security threat to the country and severely impact Thai civilians.

General Pana Klaewplodtook, the Army Commander, is closely monitoring the situation and providing specific operational guidance. He confirmed that no changes have been made to the orders for units in the combat zone. The units responsible along the entire border continue to operate according to the established plan, integrating efforts with other military branches and agencies for full implementation.

Meanwhile, the Army Commander has instructed the 1st and 2nd Army Regions to emphasize personnel safety and conduct operations prudently. The main objective is to suppress and destroy Cambodia’s military capabilities, including personnel, weaponry, and supporting elements that directly or indirectly affect Thai interests.

He also affirmed that the Thai Army targets only military objectives that affect Thailand and has established controlled zones in areas previously encroached upon to reinforce sovereignty and enhance security, facilitating future military operations.

Additionally, the Army Commander has ordered units under the Army’s direct command to provide comprehensive care for injured and fallen personnel and their families. This includes medical treatment, rights, welfare, and facilitating family visits and religious ceremonies to the fullest extent. For fallen soldiers’ funerals, senior commanders have been assigned to attend and honor the heroes respectfully, offering consolation and boosting morale for the families, acknowledging their sacrifice with pride.

The Army reaffirms that operations will continue until Cambodia ceases hostility and attacks against Thai forces and border communities. The public is assured that Army personnel and equipment remain ready to maintain operations and respond according to rules of engagement and operational plans in line with international standards, to protect Thailand’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of its people to the fullest extent.
