Chaiwut urges the People’s Party to stop focusing on constitutional amendments, calls on them to fulfill their duty to protect sovereignty, and to use NGO networks to communicate with the U.S. to clarify the Thai-Cambodian conflict.
On 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, leader of the Rak Chart Party, commented on the People’s Party’s press conference the previous night, where past and current leaders apologized for failing to amend the constitution. He said he felt deeply frustrated, because he believes the public is not focused on constitutional changes but is instead troubled and worried about the ongoing Thai-Cambodian conflict.
Chaiwut said that currently the public is concerned about war and national security. He called on the People’s Party, along with NGOs that have good relations with the United States, to play a role in communicating and helping the U.S. understand the situation.
The Rak Chart leader said the U.S. may not fully understand the conflict. He emphasized that Cambodia is not sincere about ending the dispute, having invaded Thai sovereignty, attacked Thai soldiers first, and laid mines, forcing Thailand to respond to protect its sovereignty.
Chaiwut concluded by saying the People’s Party is failing to defend and uphold Thailand’s sovereignty. He urged them to act according to their duties to steadfastly protect the country's interests and security in this situation. “Today, the people are saddened that the People’s Party is not fulfilling its duty to protect and uphold Thailand’s sovereignty,” he said. The Rak Chart leader stated.
