On 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Thailand's Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam's Foreign Minister, on his official visit to Thailand. They discussed various topics, including the relationship between Thailand and Vietnam, which recently declared a comprehensive strategic partnership. They also established an action plan to guide their relations over the next three years, especially 2026—the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations—when a high-level visit by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam is also planned.
Mr. Sihasak added that they also discussed regional situations, including current Thai-Cambodian relations. He shared Thailand's perspective, while the Vietnamese Foreign Minister expressed a desire to see relations return to peace. Thailand is determined to achieve peace but must first manage the current situation. Vietnam is ready to support initiatives to help ease tensions, both as a neighboring country and as a fellow ASEAN member.
