Rome Anticipates Attempts to Postpone Election Using Border Issues, Warns Against Political Exploitation

Rangsiman Rome said he would not speculate on whether the Bhumjaithai Party wants to hold elections. He cautioned against those testing the waters by suggesting an election delay due to Thai border issues, emphasizing that this must not be politicized to benefit certain parties.

On 14 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Rangsiman Rome, Deputy Leader of the Prachachon Party, commented on whether the ongoing conflict between Thailand and Cambodia might affect the election schedule or cause a postponement. He said the situation must be assessed in real-time based on actual circumstances. The issue should not be exploited for political party gain but must be grounded in genuine national interest. He expressed uncertainty about the basis for those "testing the waters"—whether they believe the conflict will last for nearly two more months or if they are politically motivated to promote a certain agenda. He reiterated that this matter should not become a political tool benefiting any party.

When asked whether the government side, particularly the Bhumjaithai Party, actually wants an election, Rangsiman said he would not speculate without clear information. However, he acknowledged that the public might worry about attempts to use the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia as leverage to boost political popularity for any party. He stressed that the issue must be handled based on national interest and must not be turned into personal political gain.
