The Prime Minister secretly visited the Buriram evacuation center to encourage residents and officials, personally making som tum with fermented crab and fried mussels, and sang for the villagers. He posted a message from Anwar confirming that there is no ceasefire agreement with Cambodia.
On 14 Dec 2025 at 16:15 at Chang Arena in Buriram Province, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Deputy Minister of Defense, visited to encourage residents at the Chang Arena evacuation center amid the Thailand-Cambodia border situation. He also encouraged officials at various points, personally prepared seafood fried mussels and som tum with fermented crab for the residents, supported the medical team at the Ban Kruat Hospital first aid tent, and greeted people at rest areas, with many coming to hug him and take photos.
He joined in singing “The Last Person” by Asanee-Wasan and “Som San” by Loso with students from Buriram Rajabhat University, bringing smiles to the residents. The Prime Minister said to the people, assuring them of safety.
Afterwards, Mr. Anutin said in an interview that this time the management of the evacuation center has greatly improved because they have taken action to care for the people residing there and can guarantee their safety. When residents are in a safe area, military and police forces can fully respond and protect the nation's sovereignty.
Mr. Anutin added that he understands everyone misses their homes, and if asked whether they want to return, everyone does. However, he explained that staying at the evacuation center offers the highest safety. They will mobilize food, clothing, and daily necessities to make people feel not far from home. Many volunteers, private companies, and stores have brought supplies, and measures have been implemented at all shelters. Using the Ministry of Interior’s mechanisms, provincial governors have declared risk zones, allowing budget allocation to care for the residents.
Mr. Anutin also said he has spoken with many people urging patience because entering the area remains dangerous. He asked everyone to stay until the government is confident the area is safe, then people will be allowed to return. If the situation is still hazardous, staying at the evacuation center is better.
Reporters noted that the Prime Minister did not announce the visit schedule in advance but live-streamed it on Facebook, which drew many comments from Cambodians.
Additionally, Mr. Anutin posted a message on Facebook saying: “Dear PM Anutin, My statement #DID #NOT mention ceasefire. I merely said - my suggestion to cease any provocations from 10 pm. I didn’t say that both parties have agreed.”
The above statement was sent to me by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim yesterday. This clearly proves that there was no plan nor agreement by the Thai Government to ceasefire with our enemy as of 10 pm last night. Thailand stands firm with our determination to preserve, protect, and defend the integrity of our land and our people at all costs.
Mr. Anutin said the above message was sent to him by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, in which Anwar stated that his statement did not mention a ceasefire.
He only said, “I suggested stopping any provocations starting from 10 pm onward.”
He did not say that both parties have agreed.”
Mr. Anutin said the above message from Anwar is proof there was no plan or agreement by the Thai government to ceasefire with Cambodia at 10 pm last night. Thailand continues to firmly protect and defend its territory and people at all costs.
