The government is preparing a plan to evacuate patients from seven border provinces, assigning the Ministry of Public Health to send 52 SRRT and SEhRT teams to oversee sanitation and disease control, starting 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7.
On 15 December 2025 GMT+7, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that unrest between Thailand and Cambodia has affected people in seven border provinces, causing public health facilities, including subdistrict health-promoting hospitals, to close a total of 212 locations in the border areas.
The government, through the Ministry of Public Health, has prepared 52 SRRT and SEhRT teams to deploy to shelters supporting large centers housing over 1,000 refugees. They have also issued guidelines for caring for kidney patients in shelters, advising patients to prepare necessary medications with labeled packages and instructions, recent blood test results, and contact numbers for dialysis centers. Peritoneal dialysis patients should bring dialysis solution, replacement fluids, and wound care supplies.
Additionally, 703 inpatients have been relocated to hospitals in safer areas. For mental health care, proactive screening using standardized assessments has identified people experiencing high stress and at risk of self-harm. Out of 115,632 screened, 996 showed high stress levels and 147 were at self-harm risk. Among 2,167 medical personnel screened, 42 had high stress. All received psychological first aid and ongoing care until improvement.
“The government has ordered readiness for patient evacuation plans, arranging buses and ambulances and coordinating with the Navy for sea transport. Main and alternative routes have been planned in case the primary route is unusable or unsafe, with rest stops along the way. Additional field hospitals have been designated to accommodate patients. In the event of severe situations, all patients must be moved quickly and safely,” Ms. Airin said.
