Major Political Groups Join Bhumjaithai Party to Contest 2026 Election

The Bhumjaithai Party is lively as major political groups led by Suchart, Warawut, and Eknat arrive as scheduled to register as party members. Observers watch for former MPs from Pheu Thai and the Prachachon Party who are expected to join to contest the 2026 election.

On 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the atmosphere at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters this morning was vibrant. It marked the first day the party opened membership registration for candidates aiming to run for the House of Representatives, meeting the 30-day requirement to be affiliated with a political party before the election.

Reporters noted that throughout the morning, former MPs and various political groups arrived continuously to register, especially notable large groups such as the “Group of 16” led by Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, who confirmed that all 16 former MPs in the group would register today.

Meanwhile, Santi Piyathat, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, also brought MPs under his faction to register with the Bhumjaithai Party in preparation for the 2026 election.

Eknat Promphan, former Secretary-General of the United Thai Nation Party, also came to the Bhumjaithai Party. Eknat will be responsible for managing electoral constituencies in Bangkok together with Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office.

A highlight is scheduled for noon today at 12:30, when Warawut Silpa-archa, former leader of the Chart Thai Pattana Party, will switch from his pink shirt to the blue shirt of the Bhumjaithai Party, officially joining along with 12 other MPs.

This afternoon, the Bhumjaithai Party will hold a party meeting, marking the official kickoff for the election campaign. A key agenda is preparing and selecting candidates to run, with the party aiming to field a full slate of 500 candidates: 400 constituency MPs and 100 party-list MPs.

Reporters also noted that former MPs from Bangkok associated with the Prachachon Party, who were not nominated to run again by their former party, have contacted Bhumjaithai Party seeking affiliation.

Additionally, Sudarat Pitakpornpanlop, former MP for Ubon Ratchathani, and Sarasnan Arnanopphorn, former MP for Khon Kaen from Pheu Thai, have expressed their intention to run under the Bhumjaithai banner. Several other former Pheu Thai MPs are also poised to join the party soon.
