
Bawornsak avoided the media after discussions with the Election Commission. The EC will bring the issue to this afternoon's meeting, including new constituency boundaries in four provinces with increases and decreases in MPs. Candidate registration is expected from 27-31 December, with the election day on 8 February.
On 15 December 2025 at the Election Commission's office, reporters reported that the talks between Deputy Prime Minister Bawornsak Uwanno and the Election Commission concluded around 11:30 a.m. Bawornsak gave no interviews and took the VIP elevator down to the lower floor of the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex before leaving immediately.
Meanwhile, the EC will hold a meeting this afternoon to consider the discussion outcomes, including reviewing the new constituency boundaries for MPs.Plans for the upcoming electionfor MPs scheduled for early 2026.
Regarding the constituency boundary adjustments, calculations ofthe number of constituency MPsexpected per province for the 2026 election reveal four provinces with changes inthe number of MPs.Two provinces will see a decrease in constituency MPs: Nakhon Si Thammaratwill reduce from 10 constituency MPs in 2023to 9 MPs, and Lopburiwill reduce from 5 constituency MPs in 2023to 4 MPs.
Meanwhile, two provinces will have increased constituency MPs: Pathum Thaniwill increase from 7 constituency MPs in 2023to 8 MPs, and Samut Sakhonwill increase from 3 constituency MPs in 2023 to 4 MPs.
However, following the morning's discussions with the government, the ECproposed candidate registrationfor both constituency and party-list MPs, as well as nomination of prime ministerial candidates, on Saturday,27-31 December 2025,with the election to be held on 8 February 2026.
