
The government expresses condolences and honors the brave military heroes who sacrificed their lives defending sovereignty during unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border, granting special forgiveness of loan debts under BAAC contracts.
On 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that during operations amid the unrest between Thailand and Cambodia, losses were incurred including the lives of heroes who sacrificed themselves in duty to protect the nation’s sovereignty. The government wishes toexpress condolences tothe families of soldiers who died in the line of duty, and to pay tribute and show respect to the spirits of all heroic martyrs for their great sacrifice in maintaining the nation's security.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered all government agencies to promptly assist the families of these heroes within the scope of their official duties.
He also assigned Mr. Aneknithi Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, who serves as Chairman of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), to provide assistance to customers, specifically soldiers or Border Patrol Police (BPP) who died in the unrest between Thailand and Cambodia and were BAAC clients, as well as to assist their parents or spouses who are also BAAC customers.
The bank is to forgive the entire principal loan amount and all accrued interest and penalties under contracts funded by BAAC, as a special case.
The government reaffirms its commitment to stand alongside Thailand’s brave warriors and citizens to overcome the crisis of unrest between Thailand and Cambodia together. Regarding relief measures, the government willexpediteall measures to alleviate thehardshipsfaced by the people thoroughly.
