“Chaiyachonok” Affirms No One Is Above the Law, Supports Mother But Does Not Take Sides

“Chaiyachonok” affirms that no one is above the law after being reported for failing to act regarding his mother’s posting of another party’s household registration. After investigation, it was found not to fall under Section 157. He said if this is not a political game, sympathy is understandable and stressed he stands by his mother but does not take sides.

At 08:27 on 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, spoke at the Government House about being reported for dereliction of duty after his mother, Karuna Chidchob, posted another person’s household registration online. He said if this is not a political game, he sympathizes with the complainant. Initially, he thought there was wrongdoing, but later learned that this case cannot proceed under Section 157. The director of the Personal Data Protection Committee has already clarified the legal matters. He reaffirmed that he has done his best, that no one is above the law, and he does not take sides.

“When it comes to illegal acts, no one will be supported regardless of who they are. That day, I also advised and gave an interview saying that after review, this does not fall under the PDPA. However, there may be a need to address defamation issues. So, while I stand by my mother, I will not side with her if it involves legal wrongdoing.”

Regarding the timing of the complaint close to the election, Chaiyachonok reiterated that if this is not a political game, sympathy is due, but he is not worried. Ultimately, if it is a political game, consequences will follow. He stressed that he has handled all matters regarding scammers and will not stop. He also revealed that he has spoken with his mother, who is worried and feels guilty, concerned about the impact on him and public opinion. He assured her that he has done everything fully, and if there is wrongdoing, it will be addressed accordingly. No one is above the law, and he told his mother not to worry.
