Bhumjaithai to Announce Candidates for All 33 Bangkok Constituencies Within 1-2 Days No Set Target but Cannot Lose

Supamas revealed that 70% of Bhumjaithai’s Bangkok MP candidates have already been selected, with plans to announce candidates for all 33 constituencies within 1-2 days. No numerical target has been set yet, but losing is not an option. The party’s prime ministerial candidate is also becoming clear.

At 09:40 on 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at Government House, Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and treasurer and Bangkok leader of Bhumjaithai Party, spoke about preparations for selecting Bangkok MP candidates. She said she has consulted with Eknat Prompan. Currently, there are more candidates than the 33 Bangkok constituencies, including former MPs, former ministers, and new generation candidates.

About 70% of candidates have been selected so far, and it is expected that nearly all candidates for the 33 constituencies will be finalized within 1-2 days. On 16 Dec, further discussions will take place, and if ready, the party may announce candidates that day. However, she confirmed the list will be finalized before 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7.

When asked about the target number of Bangkok MP seats, Supamas replied, “We have not looked at the numbers yet, but once everyone contests, losing is not an option. We must cover as much area nationwide as possible. The numbers will be reviewed since things are still unsettled.”

Regarding the nationalist sentiment’s impact on Bangkok, Supamas said, “We do not see recent events as either positive or negative trends. Everything is done sincerely with the genuine intent to solve problems. Since border provinces are mostly Bhumjaithai’s areas, we have a duty to address their issues. We do not consider whether this gains or loses votes, but importantly, it must not cause hardship to the people.”

Asked about strategy, given Bangkok elections rely heavily on trends, Supamas said the approach depends on the party leader, the entire Bhumjaithai organization, and the announced three prime ministerial candidates. Additionally, economic and other teams will be introduced gradually to build confidence.

On whether the prime ministerial candidate rumors are accurate, Supamas said, “We should see clarity within 1-2 days, but I leave that matter to the party’s senior leaders to answer.”
