Traiwat opposes the decision of the People's Party Secretary-General to disqualifyhis candidacyfor MP in Samut Prakan's 8th district and plans to pursue justice.
On 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters provided updates on the People's Party's candidate selection for MPs. Although all 400 district candidates have been selected and announced to party members, members can still submit reports on candidates directly to the party until the party registers candidates between 27-31 Dec 2025 GMT+7.
Recently, Mr. Traiwat Imjai, formerMPfor Samut Prakan's 8th district from the People's Party, posted on Facebook stating: "Dear beloved supporters and citizens, I, Mr. Traiwat Imjai, formerMPfor Samut Prakan's 8th district, do not accept the Secretary-General's decision to disqualifymy candidacyfrom running as MP this time.
The party's executive committee voted by majority to select me as the candidate for Samut Prakan's 8th district on Tuesday, 16 December 2025 GMT+7, at 00:43 (late night of 15 December 2025 GMT+7). However, at 12:28 on 16 December 2025 GMT+7, the Secretary-General called to inform me to withdraw my candidacy. When I asked what decision justified overturning the executive committee's vote, the Secretary-General explained it was by veto power of the Secretary-General and party leader alone that the executive committee's decisions can be changed (so why have an executive committee?).I see this as unfair and an authoritarian system used to decide my case. I sincerely affirm to the public, who have supported me with 46,539 votes from Bang Bo and Bang Sao Thong districts, that during my 2 years and 7 months as MP, I worked with honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability. I will continue on the political path to reclaimmy rights
and justice for myself. I refuse to accept this unfair decision, which is baseless and untrue. I reject this verdict.
