Chaiyachonok emphasized that the global partnership meeting against scammers is not about isolating Cambodia but seeks to unite the entire world in a serious fight against scammers.
On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Chaiyachonok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DES), stated that the international meeting on the global partnership to combat internet fraud is not about isolating any country. It is about uniting global efforts. The meeting addresses scammers, a problem faced by countries worldwide, through information exchange and cooperation within legal frameworks that each country can support to tackle this issue.
The Ministry of DES’s signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrimein Hanoi,Socialist Republic of Vietnam, will strengthen concrete international cooperation. This is a positive direction for handling this problem, which affects many nations and has become a global issue.
Regarding how this problem will be concretely addressed, he said this meeting itself marks a concrete start. Previously, fewer countries had expressed interest, but on the day, many countries joined, reflecting global recognition of the problem andThailand’s serious and sincerecommitment to tacklingonline crime. This is a significant tangible outcome that positively influences global perspectives on Thailand’s role in this issue.
When asked about DES’s approach to international cooperation in combating online crime, Chaiyachonok said the meeting was not specifically targeting Cambodia and he wants all countries to understand that technology is not the problem but can be part of the solution. However, if users are not properly controlled and monitored, technology intended to break scammers’ networks, such as iris scanning, could be compromised, turning it from a solution into an unsolvable problem. Exchanging information on this platform and applying it to prevent similar threats in each country would greatly benefit technological development.
