Sihasak surprised many by joining Bhumjaithai and hesitated on confirming his status as a backup prime minister candidate replacing Supachai. He said he came because they asked him to take photos and admitted he is reviewing foreign policy.
On 17 Dec 2025, Sihasak Pukkatekaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, surprised observers by appearing at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters. He said he came for routine discussions. When asked about his decision to run for election, Sihasak said he has not yet decided on the details of his candidacy and has not considered that aspect. He is not thinking about politics at the moment. He added that he came to take photos as he was asked.
When further asked whether he would be one of Bhumjaithai's prime minister candidates amid reports that party leader Anutin Charnvirakul had invited Supachai Sutthumpan to run but she declined, Sihasak paused briefly before avoiding a direct answer. He stated that he currently remains Minister of Foreign Affairs but acknowledged he might assist with foreign policy. Regarding the candidate position, he said he does not know, noting the party already has two candidates, so for now, that is how it stands.
