"Ekkanat and Supamas," two Bhumjaithai commanders in Bangkok, declare themselves as the new conservative right. They admit the challenge is tough but vow to fight to the very end to bring Bhumjaithai seats in Bangkok's parliament, promising to introduce things never before seen in the capital.
On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Ekkanat Phromphan, along with Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, leaders for the Bangkok election area, spoke about their readiness for the Bangkok parliamentary candidates. He said all parties are preparing, including Bhumjaithai, for which Bangkok is an important area. He understands that the party has never had a Bangkok MP before; if they succeed, it will be the first time. He admitted this is a tough task but declined to say how confident he is. However, he comes with determination and has always fought relentlessly. Today, he has support and is not working alone but with the entire party, including his female commander, Ms. Supamas, a former Bangkok MP during the Thai Rak Thai Party era. They hope to bring that experience and the team they have worked with since the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party to do their best.
When asked if there is pressure since Bhumjaithai has never had a Bangkok MP and whether they will win a seat this time, Mr. Ekkanat said his life style has never faced easy challenges and has always been about fighting. This is why the party chose him to take responsibility. He emphasized they are ready to fight but would not claim how ready because it is a challenge everyone must face. He is confident today's candidates signal well by joining Bhumjaithai, despite the party never having had MPs in Bangkok before. This election also features the party's largest number of candidates in history, with more than one candidate per district. It is his and Ms. Supamas's duty to select the best, and everyone is ready to fight together.
Regarding confidence in penetrating former People's Party areas in Bangkok, Mr. Ekkanat said he cannot predict what will happen but can say they must fight and work as hard as possible. Despite being new to Bhumjaithai, he is fully committed. The party's slogan is "Say and Do," and now it's "Say and Do Plus," meaning they must do more than they say. When he joined, he was advised not to make promises they cannot keep. He will therefore not make promises beyond what they can achieve but will give his best effort.
On how to attract momentum in Bangkok, Mr. Ekkanat said what sets Bhumjaithai apart is the gathering of established political houses, but Bhumjaithai is no longer the same. Hence the "Plus" concept, bringing together professionals to work collaboratively. For example, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, plays a role in diplomatic communication and responses to international issues; Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, drives bureaucratic reforms such as the "Khon La Khrueng Plus" program to stimulate the economy promptly; and Ms. Supachai Suthammanphon, Minister of Commerce, who in just two to three months has successfully negotiated rice sales to China, raising rice prices. The party is pushing for change, not just relying on traditional political houses as many assume, but uniting professionals to achieve success together. This is a collective challenge and a new approach.
Regarding policies in Bangkok that will appeal to the city's residents, Mr. Ekkanat said the most important are national-level policies. Bangkok is the capital, and Bhumjaithai's policies are clear. This is a key reason he joined the party.
"On border issues, decisive decisions have been made by national leaders, including Prime Minister Anutin, who must protect sovereignty and public safety. We can work with the bureaucracy without it being an obstacle, following the new conservative right approach. Therefore, things never seen before in Bangkok, such as having Bhumjaithai MPs in the capital, may happen next time."
