PM Anutin Urges Cambodia to Negotiate, Insists Thailand Must Secure Hill 350 and Expedite Recovery of Fallen Soldiers

Anutin says that if Cambodia is reasonable, they should negotiate. He insists Thailand must secure Hill 350 and is working urgently to recover the bodies of fallen personnel to the best of their ability. He has assigned the military to explain the Chong An Ma operation.

On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Bhumjaithai Party, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about the Thai-Cambodian border situation on its 10th day, after two more soldiers died. He said there is a chance to recover the bodies soon. He has received reports and confirmed that they are working with full effort and ability. Regarding the cause of death, he does not know and says the military must provide clarification.

Asked if Cambodia's reduced retaliation means the end of the conflict is near, the Prime Minister said there are ongoing clashes as part of the military's strategic operation, so he will not provide details. He hopes the situation will end quickly and with the best outcome. When asked if Thailand can hold Hill 350 near Ta Kwai Castle in Surin Province, the Prime Minister responded, “We must.”

Regarding the situation at Chong An Ma in Ubon Ratchathani Province, the Prime Minister emphasized it is a military matter and strategic operation, and he has assigned the military and experts to explain, as it concerns the security and lives of brave soldiers and the people.

Asked if it is time for Cambodia to agree to negotiations, the Prime Minister said that if Cambodia acts reasonably, it should be so.

Concerning Defense Minister Gen. Natthaphon Nakpanich's statement that the Thai-Cambodian border situation will be resolved soon, the Prime Minister said that as Defense Minister and a soldier, the media should get answers from him. Regarding whether the conflict can end before year-end, the Prime Minister reiterated that the answer lies with the Defense Minister.
