Thammanat Confirms Senior Politicians as Prime Minister Candidates for Kla Tham Party, Vows Campaign on Real Policies

Thammanat acknowledged that senior politicians are joining Kla Tham Party as prime minister candidates. Whether he will be the number one candidate must follow party procedures. He hinted that influential factions are preparing to join the party and stressed focusing on achievements, promising a campaign based on real policies without selling empty dreams.,

At 15:35 on 17 December 2025 GMT+7, Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, serving as advisory chairman of Kla Tham Party (KTP), gave an interview at the party headquarters regarding the selection of candidates for the House of Representatives, stating that approximately 85% have been chosen so far. On 16 December, the group led by Chalermchai Sri-on, former Democrat Party leader and a prepared team, was introduced. More introductions will follow, but the timing depends on discussions with the candidate selection committee. Regarding Minister of Education Narumon Pinyosinwat’s statement naming Thammanat as the top prime minister candidate, she spoke prematurely; discussions and adherence to party procedures are required.

When asked further, about the majority of Kla Tham Party members seeing Thammanat as a suitable prime minister candidate, he revealed that several senior figures not yet public have plans to join, but details remain pending. In response to whether these newcomers are outsiders or businessmen, Thammanat said that the current people will join soon. When pressed if this means they need not be party members and could be businessmen or public figures with recognized expertise, he replied, "They are politicians."

Regarding the Wadah group joining Kla Tham Party, Thammanat confirmed talks are underway. Asked if they aim to establish a strong presence in the three southern border provinces, he said all parties hope to achieve that. When asked about the party's current energy and the influx of former MPs, he said he would review the candidate list with the selection committee first. When asked if he would be the first on the party list, Thammanat replied, "We'll see."

On the question, of when a large group of former Pheu Thai MPs will join, Thammanat said talks are ongoing and there is still time. Regarding Minister Narumon's comment that influential factions will also join, he confirmed this but emphasized he must respectfully discuss with them beforehand. Asked if their arrival would avoid internal conflicts, Thammanat stressed the need to resolve issues first to prevent future problems.

Previously, Kla Tham Party seemed to be a target. Asked if the current momentum can compete with other parties, Thammanat said, "As you see, we are a work-oriented party and don’t need much talk. Look at our achievements. I can confidently say that even though I have only served a few months as Deputy Prime Minister, you can see how I have worked." When asked if he is ready to be prime minister, Thammanat said discussions are needed first.

Toward the end, when asked if the party will field candidates in all 400 constituencies, Thammanat confirmed they will. On the nomination day, 27 December 2025, the party's executive committee, led by Minister Narumon and himself, will accompany candidates to register. Regarding campaign events, the party will visit all areas, but strategic planning is needed to decide which location to start with, as candidates will share speaking duties. Regarding campaign policies, Thammanat warned against selling empty dreams, stressing that false promises lead to disappointment. The party's clear slogan already reflects its boldness to act. Meanwhile, Commander Anudit Nakornthap, party strategy chairman, is still developing other slogans.
