The Prime Minister expressed pleasure over international cooperation in discussing anti-scammer measures and revealed that China thanked Thailand for extraditing criminals back to their country. He also criticized Cambodia for skipping the meeting, suggesting certain intentions.
On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke after attending a reception for participants of the International Conference on the Global Partnership Against Internet Fraud. He stated the meeting was a successful outcome of Thailand's previous offer to host under APEC and ASEAN platforms, receiving better-than-expected cooperation with senior ministers from many countries worldwide attending.
The Prime Minister added that the international community regards this issue very seriously. For example, Morocco sent three ministers, while the People's Republic of China sent Liu Zhong Yi, an expert on combating scammers. Today, upon meeting Liu Zhong Yi, the first words he spoke were to thank Thailand for its excellent cooperation, especially for extraditing notorious criminals back to China for prosecution—something unprecedented in the past.
He emphasized that past asset seizures and financial trail investigations were not done merely to follow public trends but to seriously dismantle interconnected criminal networks. Regarding Cambodia's failure to send representatives, he noted this signaled something, but as host, Thailand was not concerned. Thailand distinguishes between border issues and international cooperation. Cambodia's absence does not affect Thailand's progress because Thailand has a clear plan under the “Bangkok Declaration,” comprising the 5P Policy: Protection, Prosecution, Partnership, Prevention. All these send a global message that Thailand is serious about combating all forms of transnational crime.
