Anutin revealed that the Chinese special envoy has yet to coordinate a meeting to mediate the Thai-Cambodian conflict, smiling without answering questions about pressure to stop the fighting.
Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was asked whether the Chinese embassy’s confirmation of sending a special envoy to visit Thailand and Cambodia on 18 Dec 2023 GMT+7 to mediate the border clashes between the two countries had been coordinated. He replied, “Not yet, not yet, and I need to attend a special cabinet meeting first.”
Regarding whether China sent the special envoy to push for a ceasefire, Anutin smiled and laughed but did not respond.
When asked if the talks aimed to have the two countries stop the clashes, Anutin said he would attend the cabinet meeting first.
