"Sergeant Major Pia" leads a team wearing Palang Pracharath Party shirts to contest five parliamentary seats in Kanchanaburi, acknowledging strong competition but pledging full effort.
On 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Palang Pracharath Party headquarters, General Somchai Wisanuwong, also known as Sergeant Major Pia, a former Kanchanaburi MP for the party in 2019, together with the five prospective candidates for Kanchanaburi, officially launched their campaign under the Palang Pracharath Party banner.
General Somchai stated that the competition in Kanchanaburi District 1 is fierce, with all parties hopeful of winning election. However, the decision rests with the voters. The candidates will give their best efforts. The Palang Pracharath Party is actively promoting candidates, aiming to select the best individuals to serve the people effectively.
Regarding strategies and policies to compete with the rising influence of younger generations in the area, General Somchai said that while society generally expresses concern, he believes that governance must integrate both older and younger generations. The older generation has the advantage of experience, and from 2026 onwards, the elderly population will increase to 27%. Therefore, it is necessary to combine the experience of the older generation to support the work of the younger generation.
When asked about concerns over the rising Palang Thai Party, which is growing larger, General Somchai said that Palang Thai's policies and plans aim to be chosen by the public. He believes Palang Thai aspires to be the sole governing party in the next term. However, as he noted, it is ultimately the people's right and duty to decide whether to have a single-party government or a coalition, and all parties will work to benefit the people.
Asked about his confidence level in this election, General Somchai said he sets his hopes as high as possible, noting that competition is intense and everyone must give their full effort.
The prospective Palang Pracharath Party candidates for the five Kanchanaburi districts are: General Somchai Wisanuwong for District 1, Mr. Jitthakorn Wongprasert for District 2, Mr. Detathon Chompet for District 3, Mr. Paophan Dokmalipa for District 4, and Mr. Wanchai Sinprasert for District 5.
