Sek Sit, a former Thammasat activist, is running for Bangkok MP in District 2 with the People's Party. He is confident that his activism experience shows structural changes must be made through parliament. He aims to promote police reform and prevent coups.
On 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Sek Sit Yamsanguansak, a former Thammasat and protest activist and prospective candidate for Bangkok MP in District 2 (Sathorn, Pathumwan, Ratchathewi) from the People's Party, said his experience as an activist has shown that many issues can achieve tangible results if pursued through parliamentary mechanisms. The People's Party's candidate selection process offers an important channel to advance agendas through legislative procedures.
When asked about consulting Ms. Thisana Chunhawat, a former MP in the area, Sek Sit said they have known each other and worked together since 2020, so there are no issues in their discussions. Regarding his readiness to work locally, he affirmed that he is from Ratchathewi, knows the area well, and has studied its problems thoroughly, committing to serious solutions.
Sek Sit acknowledged strong local support for the People's Party. His main focus is addressing the "gray society" issues, especially police reform, having previously served on a subcommittee studying police reform. He also sees the need to push for laws preventing coups through concrete legislative processes.
Regarding growing public distrust in political parties, including democratic ones, Sek Sit said this is normal in democratic societies. He believes that clear policies and practical approaches can restore public confidence.
Sek Sit emphasized that Thai politics still holds hope, with elections being the most important source of that hope. He urged citizens to vote as much as possible. On the sensitive issue of amending Criminal Code Section 112, if the People's Party does not pursue it, he said it requires open dialogue, understanding, and building social consensus.
