New Thai Progressive Party Launches “Tun Jitpas” as Young Candidate

The New Thai Progressive Party introduced “Tun Jitpas” as a party-list MP candidate to focus on human security. Suchatvee believes in the power of youth and plans to provide academic knowledge to address national issues.

On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the New Thai Progressive Party, led by Suchatvee Suwansawat, party leader, and Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, party advisory chairwoman, held a press conference to introduce Ms. Jitpas Tun Kridakorn, or Tun Jitpas, former deputy leader of the Democrat Party, who has joined the New Thai Progressive Party. Tun Jitpas will run as a party-list MP candidate for the New Thai Progressive Party, marking a significant political reinforcement for the party ahead of the February election next year.

Suchatvee, leader of the New Thai Progressive Party, said today is a historic day for the party. We intend to lead the Thai people throughcrisis.We want young people who are ready to sacrifice, and those who are honest and can be a reliable support for the public. Tun Jitpas is determined and comes from a family dedicated to the country. She has proven herself in politics for 20 years, never giving up despite obstacles. The New Thai Progressive Party recognizes her dedication and mutually respects each other. Today, we have a good, incorruptible person joining us, who will lead the team on promoting equality and human security.

Tun Jitpas said she is very pleased to receive this opportunity, marking a new chapter in her political career after working on equality and human rights for over 18 years. She views this as a period of change, opening opportunities and space to work for the benefit of the nation and its people. She thanked the New Thai Progressive Party for the chance to join and believes her experience and prior collaboration will help drive the party's mission to its full potential.

She believes the New Thai Progressive Party will be a new political option that offers citizens a fresh party to consider. She also asked the public to give the party a chance to serve both in parliament and in administration. The party has diverse personnel, including academics and managers from various fields, all ready to work for the country. She is glad to have been invited to oversee human equality issues, work she has continuously pursued for 18 years, and affirms she will devote herself fully to this role.

Later, Tun Jitpas said that everyone must unite and work for the nation and homeland. The recent dissolution of parliament happened rather quickly, so all political parties need to regroup carefully. Regarding joining the New Thai Progressive Party, she said the party's policies align with her ideals. This party offers a space to work in her areas of expertise, and she is ready to move forward alongside the New Thai Progressive Party.

When asked who the New Thai Progressive Party’s prime minister candidate is, Suchatvee said he is ready to be Thailand’s prime minister. As for other candidates, he urged the public to follow closely, hinting there might be surprises.

When questioned about the confidence of a new party competing, Suchatvee said all political parties have their strengths. The New Thai Progressive Party practices a new style of politics, combining professionals successful in various fields with those willing to sacrifice and work for the people. The entire team ofthe New Progressive Partyis composed of young politicians, which is a positive aspect. We will bring academic knowledge to serve the country.

Suchatvee confirmed that the New Thai Progressive Party will field candidates in every region of the country. He believes that everyone is now tired of old-style politics. If we think in the same old way, the country will remain stagnant. The problems are too complex to be solved by old methods; more creative approaches are needed.

Suchatvee also stated that the New Thai Progressive Party supports constitutional reform to strengthen Thai politics. The country has not progressed because politics has been overly combative and neglected national interests.

He added that he has been ready to participate in debates for a long time, and all members of the New Thai Progressive Party are prepared to debate as well. He urged debate moderators to ask tougher questions, not just about politics but also about national development, as answering development questions is a true measure of capability.

On 24 Dec, the New Thai Progressive Party will unveil its candidates for all constituencies nationwide and fully introduce its party candidates.
