Teng Ranks 2nd in Poll for Next Prime Minister, Anutin 3rd, Followed by Yotsanan

A North Bangkok Poll survey shows most respondents have yet to decide on their preferred next prime minister, with "Teng Natthapong" ranking second, "Anutin" third, and "Yotsanan" fourth. The People’s Party is favored most to lead government formation.


On 20 Dec 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Sanit Siriwisitkul, head of the North Bangkok Poll at North Bangkok University, revealed results from a public opinion survey conducted between 16-19 Dec 2025, with 1,329 samples from all regions nationwide, focusing on "popularity of political parties and prospective prime ministers."

When asked about the region where respondents currently reside, it was found that

  • 63.20% live in Bangkok and its metropolitan area.
  • 21.70% live in the Central region.
  • 4.90% live in the Eastern region.
  • 3.20% live in the Southern region.
  • 3.00% live in the Northeastern region.
  • 2.60% live in the Northern region.
  • 1.40% live in the Western region.

Regarding the political party respondents want to lead government formation in the 2026 general election, it was found that

  • 32.60% chose the People’s Party.
  • 21.60% were undecided or chose other parties not listed as options.
  • 18.20% chose the Pheu Thai Party.
  • 8.50% chose the Bhumjaithai Party.
  • 6.60% chose the Democrat Party.
  • 5.40% chose the Thai Khao Mai Party.
  • 2.30% chose the Economic Party.
  • 2.20% chose the Palang Pracharath Party.
  • 1.70% chose the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party.
  • 0.90% chose the Thai Sang Thai Party.

When asked about which political leader they want as the next prime minister after the 2026 election, it was found that

  • 26.30% were undecided or chose other leaders not listed as options. Examples include Mr. Pita Limjaroenrat and Mr. Gun Jomphalang.
  • 24.40% chose Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut.
  • 14.20% chose Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul.
  • 12.00% chose Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat.
  • 9.60% chose Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva.
  • 4.40% chose Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan.
  • 3.30% chose General Rangsit Kitiyanantap.
  • 2.30% chose General Prawit Wongsuwan.
  • 1.80% chose Mr. Peerapan Salirachvipak.
  • 1.70% chose Mr. Suchatvee Suwansawat.

Regarding voting priorities for constituency MP candidates, it was found that

  • 50.20% consider both the political party affiliation and the individual candidate.
  • 27.00% focus primarily on the individual candidate.
  • 22.80% focus mainly on the candidate’s political party affiliation.

For party-list and constituency MP elections, respondents were asked how they would choose both party and individual candidates, revealing that

  • 49.50% are still undecided.
  • 40.70% would choose both party and individual candidates from the same party.
  • 9.80% would select one party but choose a candidate from another party in the constituency system.
