Army Emphasizes Military Operations Targeting Scammers to Protect Sovereignty and Citizens

The Army spokesperson emphasized that military operations targeting scammers are designed to protect sovereignty, safeguard citizens, and reduce transnational threats.

20 Dec 2025 GMT+7 Major General Winthai Suwaree, Army Spokesperson, said that currently, Thai military operations are proceeding according to plan under close supervision, with the primary objective of protecting the country's sovereignty, security, and the safety of its people. Thai forces mainly focus their actions on military target areas.

Furthermore, some locations may outwardly appear to be civilian structures, but upon detailed inspection, they are fully used for military purposes. These serve as military bases for command and control of military activities, sites for assembling forces and accumulating weaponry, locations for preparing armed modified drones, and for conducting operations against Thai forces. Consequently, these sites are inevitably designated as military targets.

Additionally, such areas are often used simultaneously both for military operations and as bases for global scammer networks, which likely suffer direct impacts from these military counter-operations. This results in significant restrictions and disruptions to the scammer groups’ activities.

The Army spokesperson emphasized that there have been detected attempts by these groups to relocate and move to other areas, indicating pressure on the operational capabilities of these transnational criminal networks. Moreover, monitoring online data, news trends, and global media reports reveals a clear downward trend in worldwide online scams.

Major General Winthai concluded by saying, the Army confirms all operations aim to maintain national security, protect citizens, and reduce transnational threats, strictly adhering to international law and humanitarian law. He reiterated that combating scammer networks and transnational crime is a global issue that Thailand has consistently prioritized and remains committed to cooperating with the international community. .
