Government Thanks Thai Athletes for Winning Most Gold Medals at 14th SEA Games

"Airin" revealed that the government thanks the Thai athletes for winning 233 medals, securing the most gold medals for the 14th time, breaking the SEA Games record set by Vietnam in 2021.

On 21 December 2025, Ms. Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that the government expresses gratitude to all Thai athletes, coaches, and related officials who performed to their fullest potential, bringing honor to Thailand at the 33rd SEA Games held from 9-20 December 2025.

Thailand won a total of 499 medals: 233 gold, 154 silver, and 112 bronze, securing the title of most gold medals for the 14th time.

This broke the SEA Games record previously held by Vietnam in 2021, which was 205 gold medals.

Additionally, the 33rd SEA Games are estimated to have generated over 12 billion baht in economic value, including direct revenue from the competition and other related benefits, marking a very high economic impact compared to past sports events.

"The government appreciates Thai supporters both in the stadium and at home who cheered enthusiastically, creating a positive impression on athletes and foreign fans alike, showcasing Thailand's culture and soft power as a gracious host. Beyond the victories, the spirit of sportsmanship reflects the friendship and unity of ASEAN," Ms. Airin said.
