
Anutin chaired the reception of the bodies of two brave soldiers, reporting that the border situation has nearly secured all target areas, and confirmed full care for the deceased soldiers' benefits and rights.
At 10:00 a.m. on 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at Weerawatyothin Camp Hospital in Surin Province, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, presided over the funeral ceremony for brave soldiers Sergeant Major Samrerng Klangprakorn and Private Phanuphat Saosa, warriors from the Nern 350 battlefield.
The ceremony atmosphere was filled with deep sorrow from the families of both soldiers. Additionally, citizens of Surin lined the hospital exit road waving Thai national flags to bid farewell to the two soldiers as they were returned to their hometowns for religious rites.
At 11:05 a.m., Anutin posted on Facebook expressing deep respect and gratitude to the brave soldiers for protecting the homeland.
He affirmed that nearly all targeted areas have been reclaimed.
At 11:00 a.m., Anutin stated in an interview that the Thai military from all three branches has nearly fully reclaimed the target areas previously encroached upon and pushed opposing forces to withdraw. They are maintaining strict vigilance to prevent further violent clashes. He reaffirmed Thailand's stance that the country has never been the aggressor or threatened neighboring countries, nor violated any agreements or declarations. All actions have been taken to establish sovereignty and national security. To end the conflict, there must be a ceasefire, cessation of harassment and invasions, including stopping drone use in border areas. When asked about negotiations,
he emphasized that Thailand has not violated any agreements first.
Anutin said no third party mediator has been appointed yet, as this is a direct issue between Thailand and Cambodia. He confirmed that despite the upcoming election, the government retains full authority to administer the country, care for the people, and defend the nation. Regarding the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' meeting on 22 Dec, Anutin said he has tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clearly present Thailand's policies and stance, affirming that Thailand is not violating agreements or invading neighboring countries. All actions are aimed at protecting sovereignty and national security. Thailand stands on international law principles and seeks to end losses without escalating the situation.
He assured full care for the benefits of the deceased.
Anutin expressed the government's condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and confirmed full support for their benefits, including pensions, honorary promotions, and compensation as per regulations. He emphasized that these losses should not be seen merely as numbers but as lives dedicated to the nation. He hopes that the sacrifice of the two brave soldiers will be the last. Regarding aid for civilians affected by evacuations, assistance will be considered fairly and inclusively for all families.
