Jaturon Resigns as Pheu Thai Party Strategy Chairman to Focus on New Constitution Referendum Campaign

Jaturon resigns as chairman of the Pheu Thai Party's strategy committee, citing that the party already has an established strategy. He wishes to dedicate himself fully to campaigning for the new constitution referendum, which he has vigorously supported.

At 14:00 on 21 Dec 2025, Jaturon Chaisang, chairman of the Pheu Thai Party's strategy committee, posted on Facebook that he had submitted his resignation letter to the party leader to step down as strategy chairman effective 15 December. He stated that he was honored and pleased to serve in the role, but as the party’s strategy and election plans have advanced significantly and with the sudden dissolution of parliament, adjusting the strategy on short notice would not be beneficial. Therefore, he resigned to allow long-time close collaborators to continue driving the work forward.

Jaturon added that he has been involved throughout in pushing for constitutional reform to produce a new constitution draft, which he views as very important for the country. He wishes to devote himself fully to the campaign effort. The "new constitution referendum" Alongside the election campaign. He understands the party will soon form a committee to campaign for the referendum, and he intends to participate in that effort.

In his resignation letter, he also stated that his appointment as strategy chairman was akin to "changing horses mid-battle." This may not align with the party’s pre-established strategy, potentially causing more harm than good. Regarding the upcoming election strategy, he believes that appointing a leader who has closely worked with the party over the past 2-3 years in shaping strategy and direction would be more appropriate.

Another key point is that during the joint parliamentary session on 11 December 2025, a unanimous resolution was passed to request the Cabinet to arrange a referendum asking whether the public approves the new constitution draft. This referendum is expected to be held on the same day as the election. Whether the referendum passes is highly significant for constitutional reform and advancing democracy in the country.

Jaturon said that since he has been involved in pushing for constitutional reform and the new draft, he feels it is necessary to help explain and campaign for the referendum to gain public approval from eligible voters. This is an important task for the party alongside the election campaign. "This may reduce the time I can devote to party work during the election campaign. For these reasons, I resign as chairman of the Pheu Thai Party’s strategy committee effective Monday, 15 December 2025."

The resignation letter also noted that as the party has important activities this week, to avoid disrupting political communication and publicity, he will not disclose or explain his resignation publicly until after these key events have passed.
