Abhisit invites Thai people to stop enduring, to cooperate and unite in creating social change by eliminating "gray-area problems, the patronage system, and corruption."
On 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about insightful findings from a survey of over 30,000 citizens. The key question was "What will Thailand no longer tolerate?" This was part of the Democrat Party's online campaign. He said the responses reflect more than statistics; they tell real-life stories showing the hopes and pains of Thai people in many aspects. For example, parents who invest in their children's education face obstacles in job hunting due to patronage systems that undermine merit. Entrepreneurs bear hidden costs from policy corruption and rent-seeking. Vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, fall victim to technology-related crimes like scams.
Abhisit further analyzed frankly that these structural problems originate from corruption and the patronage system, which are major obstacles to national development—whether in agricultural product prices or education quality. All require solutions addressing the root cause: political ethics. He proposed a positive approach emphasizing that politicians must cooperate with the public, using elections as a communication tool to declare that the old system will no longer be accepted. This way, we will not merely endure day to day but will build a future with dignity and equality together.
