Chor Files Complaint Over Fake News Accusing Her of Revealing Military Battle Plans, Links to Election

Chor-Panika brought evidence of fake news and filed a complaint after posts distorted facts, falsely accusing her of ordering soldiers to spread maps and disclose battle plans to the public. She urged the Election Commission to take action, including on vote-buying.

On 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Ms. Panika Wanich, known as Chor, an executive member of the Progressive Movement, went to Thonglor Police Station with evidence from Facebook to file a complaint against those spreading online fake news claiming, "How long will the fighting last? Soldiers must spread maps and disclose battle plans to the public," dated 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7.

She filed charges of defamation and violations of the Computer Crime Act, stating that the complaint was to protect her rights and the upcoming election. She plans to sue four accounts, including the original source, the “Muek Seum” page, and those who shared it.

Ms. Panika confirmed she never made such statements on the specified date, as she did not appear on any program that day, working all day without interviews. Therefore, the statements are false information and fake news deliberately causing harm.

Many people shared the false information, including politicians who are former party spokespeople, IO accounts, military personnel, and former musicians, who shared and added distorted captions calling her a “traitor.”

Additionally, a clip from the program “Talk Without Dispute,” where she was interviewed on 14 Nov 2025 GMT+7, was used. That day she criticized the work of Anutin Charnvirakul; at that time, there were no new border clashes or serious crackdowns on scammers.

The distorted words were from when she said the government should "spread plans to crack down on scammers" and that "the fighting should end, but no need to disclose detailed battle plans, as knowing details would inform the opponents." This was edited to remove the part about not wanting to know.

Ms. Panika asked the public to consider why the People’s Party is being linked with Samdech Hun Sen, Chairman of the Senate, and why she is slandered as a traitor causing Thailand disadvantage. She noted that in the 2023 election, the Progressive Party was targeted by fake news claiming former leader Pita Limjaroenrat would expel Cambodian workers—a case of election interference that ended when the party did not form the government.

She wanted to highlight that the People’s Party exposed Ben Smith and revealed photos with politicians across almost the entire country posing with Hun Sen. Yet those who exposed these facts have been subjected to defamation and fake news campaigns.

She called for fairness and urged the public to critically evaluate information, especially as the election approaches, when fake news and IO operations continue. She also appealed to the Election Commission to handle fake news and false information as strictly as vote-buying cases.

When asked if she had a message for frontline soldiers, Chor said that while frontline troops face risks daily, stepping on bombs and sacrificing their lives—with many injured or killed—there are “military IO” groups acting harmfully. She questioned whether they consider the soldiers who sacrificed their lives and whether their actions align with true military duties.

She emphasized that the true role of soldiers, admired nationwide, is to sacrifice and protect the country, leaving families and homes behind—not to stir up hatred against political parties, which is not a soldier’s mission.

As a security commission member serving over two years working with military personnel at all levels, she found they share a common stance prioritizing national interest. No one questions the need to protect the people; all agree to support frontline troops with adequate combat power and budget.

Since weaponry requires public funds to purchase, they have no off-the-books or illegal money like some parties. They do everything to preserve national sovereignty and ensure frontline soldiers’ food safety.

Though border fighting may have paused, future conflicts remain uncertain. Borders cannot be safe while many landmines remain, requiring years for clearance. She and the commission promote technology like detection systems to reduce risks and lessen the number of soldiers patrolling dangerous areas.

She reaffirmed that in all interviews, she never disclosed information threatening national security or mentioned battle plans, maps, or sensitive data. She urged the public to use discernment and confirmed no one wants to side with Samdech Hun Sen.

Asked if the lawsuit restricts free speech, Ms. Panika said she is one of the most criticized politicians and this is not the first time. She rarely sues anyone except for Ms. Pareena Kraikupt, who accused her of being part of the group responsible for bombing Bangkok.

She sued then because it was a serious allegation, and this time she sues to protect her rights and safeguard the election so the public receives truthful information. She said this fake news is not free speech and she will sue anyone who shares it.

Regarding the “Dang Pankorn” page, with over 1.3 million followers, which also shared the fake news, Ms. Panika said she commented to clarify on that page and hopes followers see the facts. She said what Dang Pankorn chooses to say is his right and confirmed she will not sue him, reassuring him.
