The Election Commission (EC) is rushing to fix the advance registration system after discovering some smartphone models are incompatible. Campaign vehicles are allowed, but entertainment or festive activities are prohibited. Clear warnings have been issued that improperly placed campaign signs may be removed and costs charged.
On 22 Dec 2025 at 10:30 a.m., at the Election Commission (EC) office, Acting Sub-Lieutenant Samphan Saengkamlert, Director of the EC in Bangkok, revealed preparations for MP candidate registration in Bangkok. The EC has publicized candidate registration to various political parties so those wishing to nominate constituency candidates can check basic qualifications and are periodically surveyed.
Additionally, the EC verifies party membership and candidate disqualifications; some candidates have already submitted documents for review. The use of campaign vehicles for publicity is permitted, but entertainment or festive events are prohibited, which has been preliminarily emphasized. Regarding campaign sign installation, the Bangkok EC will inform candidates at registration. If signs are placed improperly, provincial or Bangkok EC offices will notify candidates to correct them. Failure to comply will result in removal by the provincial or Bangkok election director, and costs will be charged to the candidate. Coordination is ongoing to ensure candidates comply.
Acting Sub-Lieutenant Samphan also stated that complaints about inability to register for advance voting stem from some smartphone models being unsupported. The EC office is urgently addressing this issue following directives from the EC secretary-general since last night, as it affects the public. The fix is expected to be completed by today (22 Dec).
