Launch of the Thai People’s Party – 146 Parliamentary Candidates Vow to Solve National Issues, Rejecting Traditional Power Structures, Anchoring in Strong Samut Prakan Base

The Thai People’s Party unveiled its party leadership and 146 parliamentary candidates volunteering to solve the nation’s problems, declaring that modern politics will have no dominant or subordinate factions. The party set its flag in Samut Prakan, a stronghold where it has previously generated jobs for the Paknam community.

On 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Thai People’s Party, led by Mr. Eksit Khunanthakul, party leader and former chairman of the Employers’ Council of Thailand (ECOT), officially launched the party and introduced its executive committee along with more than 146 prospective members of parliament nationwide, both party-list and constituency candidates.

Mr. Eksit announced his readiness to serve as the Thai People’s Party’s prime ministerial candidate, volunteering to address the country’s problems in all dimensions. He expressed confidence in solving economic and livelihood issues, all aspects of security, and especially tackling systemic corruption—the “zero corruption” policy—to stop the annual loss of over 3 trillion baht in public funds. He also emphasized combating scammer and call center gangs alongside the party’s core policy: “Develop People, Create Jobs, Build Careers.”

Mr. Eksit further stated that the Thai People’s Party deeply understands the pain of the Thai people and therefore promotes the policy “Develop People, Create Jobs, Build Careers” to address problems accurately and effectively.

Develop People: Lay the foundation for the country’s sustainability by developing human resources through systematic integration of education, vocational training, and the labor market.

Create Jobs: Revive the grassroots economy. True economic recovery begins with enabling businesses to survive, simplifying and making business operations fairer and more competitive, increasing incomes, and restoring stability to Thai families.

Build Careers: Expand life choices in the modern world. No one should be limited to a single career path. The party aims to open opportunities for new, supplementary, and freelance careers within the digital and creative economies. The state must shift from being a “controller” to a “supporter,” from a “barrier” to a “facilitator,” enabling all citizens to stand independently with income and dignity. The Thai People’s Party is ready to address all these issues to ensure comprehensive care for all Thai people, improving quality of life sustainably.

Regarding expectations for parliamentary seats in the upcoming election, Mr. Eksit said that as a new political party presenting itself to the public with good policies and sincerity, it holds relatively high expectations. However, he left the numbers to be decided by the voters and asked for public support. He assured that all candidates representing the party are capable and of good character, emphasizing that the party is competent, capable, and has a proven track record.

Addressing concerns about competition in Samut Prakan, a traditional stronghold of established factions, Mr. Eksit, a native of Samut Prakan, said he is not worried about dominant or subordinate factions. His only concern is whether the people suffer. The party does not rely on patronage networks but instead uses the people as its voice, inviting them to suggest and support the party. He is confident that everyone in Samut Prakan knows his family, and he has created hundreds of thousands of jobs there, reinforcing his confidence because ultimately, power rests with the people.
