Rom Leads Delegation to Visit Border Evacuation Center Residents Worry About Mounting Debt Amid Inability to Work

Rom led a delegation to visit the Wang Nam Yen evacuation center in Sa Kaeo. Many residents still hear explosions, causing fear. They are worried about mounting debt burdens after being unable to work and hope the government will implement measures to address these problems.

On 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Rangsiman Rome, former party-list MP from the Prachachon Party, accompanied by Police Colonel Ekanan Hukaeo, Dr. Yutthachai Rampaivorn, and Police Colonel Satphat Pimkam visited residents displaced by unrest along the border at evacuation centers in Wang Nam Yen and Mueang Sa Kaeo districts. They listened to urgent concerns and needs directly affected by the ongoing unresolved conflict.

Discussions revealed that many residents have lived in the evacuation centers for several days, most for about half a month, amid uncertainty and anxiety. Many still hear explosions nearby, causing fear and stress even within the centers. Meanwhile, many homes lack safe bomb shelters or bunkers, leaving residents unsure when they can safely return to normal life.

Mr. Rangsiman said that in daily life, many essential items remain scarce, especially personal care products and necessities for the elderly, as well as basic healthcare equipment. Numerous families have brought pets with them. Another major issue is debt burdens and loss of income, as displacement prevents them from working normally, yet loan repayments, installments, and other expenses continue without pause.

"These factors create economic pressure that worsens the hardship caused by the unrest for the people. Feedback from these areas must be a key challenge for authorities to improve state measures effectively, addressing the suffering genuinely. At the same time, I commend all officials and personnel working tirelessly on the ground, including evacuation center staff, medical teams, mental health support, teachers, and others involved, who volunteer to care for the people with great dedication. The feedback from residents has been positive, and I am very grateful," he said. Mr. Rangsiman Rome stated.
