Prime Minister Opens “OTOP City 2025” Inviting Thais to Support Products that Help Fellow Citizens

The Prime Minister opened “OTOP City 2025” to support Thai products and generate community income—highlighting seven border provinces affected by crises, stimulating the grassroots economy, and emphasizing OTOP as a Thai brand that demonstrates its potential worldwide.

On 22 Dec 2025 at 17:00 GMT+7, at the central stage of Challenger 2, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province, Siripong Angkasakulkiat, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of “OTOP CITY 2025.” Attending were Ms. Supamas Isarapakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office; Mr. Napin Srisappang, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office; Ms. Supachai Suthammanphun, Minister of Commerce; Ms. Sasithorn Kittitharagul, Deputy Minister of Interior; and Mr. Songsak Thongsri, Deputy Minister of Interior, along with diplomatic corps, the National OTOP Steering Committee, provincial governors, senior officials, and private sector representatives.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister and entourage paid respect before the portrait of His Majesty the King and viewed an exhibition honoring His Majesty. They then watched a special performance titled “OTOP.…Happiness Festival,” portraying the spirit of giving and sharing during the New Year through vibrant colors, music, and contemporary performances combined with a marching band from Triam Udom Nopphakhun Kanthi School, creating an impressive atmosphere and inspiring happiness.

In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister noted that for several consecutive years he has had the opportunity to participate in OTOP events, both as an opener and as a customer. He said that decorative items in his home are a source of pride when visitors ask where they come from—all originating from OTOP. For this reason, he expressed great pleasure to be involved in “OTOP CITY 2025” today.

The Prime Minister stated that the government has continuously valued the One Tambon One Product program, as OTOP products have become a key brand of Thailand. Simply mentioning “OTOP” conjures images of Thai identity, quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail at every production stage, leaving a lasting impression. This value is not limited to jewelry, clothing, or artistic items but is reflected in all products created by Thais under the OTOP brand.

Having gained recognition and market presence, the next major challenge is to maintain quality and consumer satisfaction while ultimately innovating and introducing new, interesting stories that keep consumers excited and engaged. These challenges are essential to being a “champion” and sustaining leadership, which the Prime Minister believes is achievable.

He added that the key goal in driving OTOP products is to create jobs, livelihoods, and income for entrepreneurs and community members, thereby stimulating the overall national economy. It is also a valuable opportunity for Thailand to demonstrate to the world the progress in developing Thai products. The Prime Minister urged the Community Development Department and all stakeholders to recognize the challenge of maintaining the championship—continuous development, constant innovation, and avoiding stagnation are necessary to sustainably keep OTOP as Thailand’s champion brand.

Amid fatigue and tension from various national situations, including natural disasters and conflicts with neighboring countries, OTOP City serves as a space for relaxation and offers the public a chance to participate in positive activities together.

“Purchasing OTOP products is not merely shopping but reflects genuine solidarity. It supports citizens from seven border provinces affected by conflict: Trat, Chanthaburi, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, and Sa Kaeo. These provinces have potential and offer a variety of quality products, including food, clothing, and daily necessities. Thus, holding OTOP City today not only promotes the grassroots economy but also aids fellow citizens facing hardships from these situations,” the Prime Minister said. .—(This part consists solely of a phrase meaning 'The Prime Minister said' with no additional content.)

Additionally, the event has allocated special areas for producers from provinces nationwide affected by natural disasters. Everyone is encouraged to seize this opportunity to show compassion and support fellow citizens, as few occasions bring together quality products from across the country for everyone to browse, buy, and benefit from.

Since this week is the final week of the year, the Prime Minister took the auspicious moment to extend advance New Year wishes for 2026 CE, hoping it will be the best year for all Thais, with health, safety, and happiness for everyone.

After the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister, diplomatic representatives, and officials toured exhibition booths of partner agencies, engaging with producers and entrepreneurs showcasing and selling their products, before departing.
