Anutin emphasized that Thailand was invaded after Trump accused Thailand of attacking first, stressing that the international community does not take sides and that the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia must be resolved conclusively.
On 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at the Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, spoke about the Cabinet meeting approving compensation for those affected by the Thailand-Cambodia border situation. He said compensation was allocated for deceased individuals and citizens impacted by the border fighting and disasters. The Cabinet also approved a budget to strengthen military capabilities and to procure drug X-ray vehicles for the Royal Thai Police. He clarified this was not a debt commitment but a necessary matter requiring approval from the Election Commission first.
Regarding recent reports that Donald Trump, President of the United States, allegedly accused Thailand of being the first to attack Cambodia, the Prime Minister said everyone already knows the truth and that there is no concern. Thailand was the party invaded and attacked first. What we did was respond to defend our sovereignty.
When asked about many countries siding with Cambodia and how to regain international understanding for Thailand, the Prime Minister said this is a bilateral matter between Thailand and Cambodia. He had not seen any country explicitly taking sides. Countries involved in discussions have stated they remain neutral. He welcomed all countries' neutrality and said it is a problem that Thailand must resolve conclusively with the counterpart country.
