“Teng Natthapong,” leader of the People’s Party and prime ministerial candidate, showcased his vision in the first debate, emphasizing the goal of making “Thailand unequal, equal, and world-class” a true reality,
At 17:30 on 23 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Thairath TV held the first debate stage ahead of the 2026 election. The program was hosted by Kai Pongsakem Satyaprasert and featured eight prime ministerial candidates from political parties: Mr. Natthapong Rueangpanyawut, leader of the People’s Party and PM candidate; Mr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, PM candidate from Pheu Thai Party; Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party and PM candidate; Mr. Teerachai Phuwanatnarunban, deputy leader and PM candidate from Palang Pracharath Party; Mr. Peeraphan Saleerathwipak, leader of Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party and PM candidate; Mr. Suchatvech Suwansawat, leader of Thai Khao Mai Party and PM candidate; Khun Ying Sudarat Keyuraphan, leader of Thai Sang Thai Party and PM candidate; and General Rangsee Kitiyanansap, leader of the Economic Party and PM candidate. Meanwhile, two parties, Kla and Bhumjaithai, did not send PM candidates to join the debate.
The first to present his vision was Mr. Natthapong, who stated that the People’s Party’s vision for this election is “Thailand Unequal, Thailand Equal, and Thailand World-Class.” He explained that Thailand has long suffered from widespread and deeply rooted corruption, high social inequality, and economic development lagging behind, ranking last in ASEAN growth. This inspired the party’s three pillars: Thailand Unequal, Thailand Equal, and Thailand World-Class.
Regarding “Thailand Unequal,” the party aims to intensify the fight against corruption and scams, committing to uncompromising asset seizure without exception. They plan to reform the civil service and police systems, ending the patronage and position-buying practices, to ensure these institutions truly serve the public.
For “Thailand Equal,” the party intends to promote comprehensive universal welfare so every Thai is born into good conditions, grows well, and the elderly live with dignity. Beyond welfare, they will push for fair wage systems, reform wage formulas, protect informal workers, freelancers, and platform-based laborers.
Finally, to make Thailand “World-Class,” the focus is on infrastructure mega-projects designed by the people, improving quality of life and lowering living costs for all citizens. The party has unveiled a professional management team, including four deputy prime ministers overseeing different areas. These professionals are recognized across various sectors, independent from major capital groups or factions. Only a professional management team can truly realize Thailand as unequal, equal, and world-class.
