The Kalatham Party spokesperson sharply criticized Abhisit for engaging in divisive politics, repeating the mistakes that led to calls for a revolution, after he announced he would not join a government with Kalatham. He declared that Thammanat does not merely talk but takes real action, with proven results.
On 24 Dec 2023 09:50 GMT+7, Mr. Akarasan Kiri Lohveera, spokesperson for the Kalatham Party (KTH), commented on Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party and prime ministerial candidate, who declared during a debate that he would not collaborate with Kalatham after the 2026 election. He said this stance reflects a political mindset aimed at creating division rather than seeking unity to work together for the country's progress.
Mr. Akarasan Kiri said he believes the public still clearly remembers past political lessons, including calls for revolution, governance that led to crises, conflict, and losses in the capital city, as well as issues with the management of Sor Por Kor 4-01 land, which was questioned for benefiting corporate interests. Furthermore, there was failure to resolve economic problems through mismanagement of national debt and assets, heavily criticized as selling Thai assets to foreigners below value.
He also recalled past political betrayals when the Democrat Party leader once declared not to join a government with the Palang Pracharath Party, but the party eventually agreed to join. There were also allegations of vote-buying corruption and cases where some party members were imprisoned, all issues well known to society.
Mr. Akarasan Kiri emphasized that current politics should focus on reconciliation, building cooperation and hope for the people, not behaviors or rhetoric that cause division. He pointed out that some parties, when in government, often led to crises and conflicts, but when out of government, resorted to extralegal means to stir social divisions. The public still remembers the Democrat Party leader leading protests and blowing whistles, which ultimately led the country to face a revolution.
He stated that the Kalatham Party affirms its stance to pursue constructive politics centered on the interests of the country and its people. He believes the public will judge based on genuine achievements and real policies in the upcoming election. "We are not politics that just speaks elegantly to sell dreams but politics that takes real action for the country and its people."
"The election results remain a matter of the future, and I believe the Democrat Party is unlikely to lead the government formation. Therefore, their declarations about alliances or refusals to partner with certain parties mean the Democrat Party will not be the one directing the political course."
