Rambo Alarmed by Rumors of Uncle Pom Quitting Politics, Resigns from Palang Pracharath to Join New Opportunity Party

"Rambo" is alarmed by reports that "Uncle Pom" will step down, submitting his resignation from the Palang Pracharath Party this morning before immediately joining the New Opportunity Party. He admits being worried about being abandoned mid-way after "Big Pom" will no longer lead the election campaign.

On 24 December 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Sek Sakol Attawong, known as "Rambo Isan," revealed he has decided to resign from the Palang Pracharath Party after learning that General Prawit Wongsuwan, the party leader, plans to step down due to poor health. He will submit his resignation to the Election Commission this morning and then immediately join the New Opportunity Party, which he believes will be warmer and more familiar since most members are people he knows.

Mr. Sek Sakol said he originally decided to join Palang Pracharath because it was like his old home, having run as a candidate there in 2019, and because of his faith in General Prawit.

"I have long heard rumors that General Prawit would step down, unable to continue due to health issues, but I didn’t quite believe it, thinking it unlikely because General Prawit is a fighter. If he were to step back, there would have to be reasons. Recently, senior party officials spoke to me, saying that General Prawit’s health is poor and he wants to step down and hand the party over to someone else. This shocked and distressed me, wondering how to continue if General Prawit is no longer the commander. It would be difficult to move forward, and I worry about being abandoned mid-way."

Mr. Sek Sakol said he will move to the New Opportunity Party but continue campaigning in the same area, Constituency 10. He is confident he can win in Khonburi District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, his home base. Since Palang Pracharath remains uncertain and he has never received support or demands from General Prawit, he feels compelled to find a new party given the lack of clarity.
