Sihasak Unveils Four-Year Plan for Bhumjaithai Party, Advocates Dignified Diplomacy to Resolve Cambodia Conflict

Sihasak unveiled a vision highlighting the "Foreign Policy Begins at Home" strategy, merging security and economic efforts, and urged diplomats worldwide to adopt proactive sales roles.

On 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Mr. Sihasak Puangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, presented his vision at the Bhumjaithai Party's 2026 election policy briefing. He outlined Thailand's diplomatic direction for the next four years to lead the country out of crisis and create economic opportunities for the people. He revealed that during his first four months in office, he faced a diplomatic crisis with Cambodia, but Thailand now stands united in defending sovereignty through cooperation between diplomatic and security sectors.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that if Cambodia is ready to negotiate to resolve the conflict, it must be based on the other side's readiness and sincerity. Regarding Myanmar, Thailand must take a proactive role in restoring stability and peace to address drug issues and call center gangs along the border. However, Thailand's long-term strategy is to maintain neutrality with pride amid a disorderly world shaped by great power rivalries. Thailand must sustain relations with all parties without taking sides and use ASEAN mechanisms as shields and leverage. It should lead on global issues such as climate change and combating transnational crime.

Mr. Sihasak added that the core of Bhumjaithai's agenda is to make foreign affairs address people's livelihoods. A new economic diplomacy policy will be announced this week, transforming the roles of nearly 100 embassies and consulates worldwide to work proactively through "Walk to Talk," seeking investors and markets rather than just providing traditional certification. Team Thailand must integrate work among the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, military, National Security Council, and private sector as one.

Mr. Sihasak stressed that foreign policy in a democratic era must be accountable and involve public participation to foster understanding and support for international operations. Their strategy is to position Thailand honorably and with dignity on the global stage, advancing national interests in all areas to ensure Thailand's sustainable leadership in the international community," Mr. Sihasak concluded.
