Teerachai Resigns as Palang Pracharath Party Prime Ministerial Candidate Following Uncle Pom Political Withdrawal

Teerachai Phuwanatnaranubala posted a statement to the media announcing his resignation as the Palang Pracharath Party's prime ministerial candidate. He also stepped down from the executive committee and is suspending his political career to return to being an independent academic, following rumors that General Prawit Wongsuwan ('Uncle Pom') is withdrawing from politics.


On 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Teerachai Phuwanatnaranubala, deputy leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, posted on Facebook that he is resigning as the party's prime ministerial candidate. This followed General Prawit Wongsuwan's resignation as candidate on 24 Dec. Teerachai also resigned from his roles as deputy party leader and executive committee member. He explained that his main motivation for joining the party was his personal faith in the leader, so under these circumstances, he feels it is time to step away from politics.

He expressed gratitude to the party leader and colleagues for the opportunity to work fully and wished the party success in the upcoming election to benefit the nation. He stated he will return to being an independent academic.
